Overview
Lead the overall application architecture and technology strategy for the MLITSD 360 platform and its sub-projects. The role supports large-scale distributed cross-platform applications, microservice solutions on Tanzu, cloud architecture, enterprise standards, and architecture governance.
Responsibilities
• Lead the overall architecture and technology strategy of the MLITSD 360 platform and related sub-projects.
• Develop, recommend, implement, and manage application architecture across hardware, software, database, and communications.
• Develop and manage microservice architecture strategy for MLITSD 360 platforms using Tanzu.
• Provide input on cloud costing, licensing, management, and efficient program budget use.
• Define application architecture requirements with clients and obtain I&IT management approval.
• Develop detailed plans and resource estimates for large-scale, complex architecture projects.
• Provide solution option analysis and architectural artefacts aligned with Ontario Government architecture standards.
• Lead application architecture reviews, assessments, development, and support projects.
• Research, develop, implement, and maintain approved application architectural policies and standards.
• Ensure integration with corporate and client-cluster policies, standards, and industry best practices.
• Provide architecture advice to project teams, client management, staff, cluster clients, and external contractors.
• Lead or participate in sensitive application architecture investigations.
• Deliver architectural artefacts required by the OPS Zachman Enterprise framework.
• Lead architecture definition and implementation, architecture work-plan updates, and design meetings.
• Review artefacts across architectural domains for quality and consistency.
• Define integration and communication solutions between system components and external systems.
• Resolve technical and system issues with business clients and project teams.
• Ensure project artefacts comply with Ministry standards and methodologies.
• Provide post-implementation support and assist with IT project planning.
• Provide knowledge transfer to Ministry staff throughout the assignment.
Mandatory Qualifications
• Experience developing and implementing public-cloud solutions using IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS; Azure experience is preferred.
• Leadership experience developing and implementing application architectures.
• Leadership experience with microservice architecture and delivery using containerized platforms.
• Experience architecting solutions for Tanzu (formerly Pivotal Cloud Foundry).
• Cloud security leadership and practical experience securing cloud workloads against potential threat actors.
• Experience leading hybrid deployments across on-premise data centres and multiple cloud providers.
• Experience designing microservice solutions on a container platform.
• Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and embedded delivery-team architecture leadership.
• Experience leading technical solution delivery project teams.
• Experience with DevOps automation, infrastructure and code deployment, functional testing, and security testing.
• Experience with cloud networking design and implementation, including V-Nets, subnets, network peering, and web application firewalls.
• Experience with API Management and REST APIs.
• Experience with public-sector or large-enterprise architecture governance and committees.
• Experience leading projects through enterprise architecture governance committees, including the Ontario Government Architectural Review Board.
Preferred Qualifications
• Azure experience.
• Knowledge of and experience with MLITSD application patterns and infrastructure.
• Experience with GO ITS standards.
• Experience with PowerDesigner, Visio, or other Computer Aided Software Engineering tools.
• Experience with Microsoft SharePoint Online and on-premises SharePoint deployments.
• Experience building strategies for blue-green deployments.
• Awareness of emerging technologies, trends, and direction.
