Overview

Designing, developing and implementing front end code including user interface interactions and creating attractive and effective user interfaces. Required to translate technical systems specifications into working, tested applications. This includes developing detailed programming specifications, writing and/or generating code, compiling data-driven programs, maintaining, and conducting unit tests. Resolves and troubleshoots technical problems which arise during the use and operation of software packages, including technical assistance in implementation, conversion and migrations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement front end code, including user interface interactions and attractive and effective user interfaces.
• Translate technical systems specifications into working, tested applications.
• Develop detailed programming specifications.
• Write and/or generate code.
• Compile data-driven programs.
• Maintain applications and conduct unit tests.
• Resolve and troubleshoot technical problems arising during the use and operation of software packages.
• Provide technical assistance in implementation, conversion and migrations.
• Collaborate with IT professionals throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Elicit and document information from diverse business area stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Define product strategy and roadmap.
• Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities.
• Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples.
• Become an expert with respect to the competition.
• Provide post-implementation support and resolve post-implementation technical issues.
• Conduct design walkthrough sessions with the project team.
• Provide user and system documentation as required.

Mandatory Qualifications

• 10+ years of demonstrated experience with the use of Java language.
• Java Development IDE Tools: Eclipse, IBM RAD, IBM RSA – 5+ years.
• WebSphere v8.5 or higher – 5+ years.
• Hibernate/JPA.
• React – 5+ years.
• JavaScript – 10+ years.
• TypeScript – 5+ years.
• HTML 5.0, CSS – 5+ years.
• Node such as NPM – 5+ years.
• RXJS – 5+ years.
• Bootstrap, jQuery – 3+ years.
• Spring Framework (MVC, Security, JPA, Boot).
• Bitbucket – 3+ years.
• Experience with Responsive Web application development.
• Maven.
• DB SQL including DB Objects such as Tables, Views, Sequences, Store Procedure, Functions, Triggers – 5+ years.
• 10+ years of experience in Oracle database version 11G+.
• Experience with AODA/WCAG 2.0 AA.
• Demonstrated experience with AODA compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior OPS or Public sector experience.
• Knowledge and experience with programming Internet-ready applications.
• Knowledge and experience in rapid application development (RAD) methodologies.
• Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices.
• Experience with middleware and gateways.
• Experience reviewing, analyzing, and modifying product installation scripts including encoding, testing, debugging.
• Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards.
