Overview
This assignment requires an intermediate QA specialist to plan, organize, and execute manual and automated testing activities for large, complex business-critical systems. The role includes test strategy development, data reconciliation, accessibility testing, defect management, performance testing, and collaboration with technical and business teams.
Responsibilities
• Provide advice on testing strategy, test plans, testing tools, and required testing resources.
• Plan and organize testing for large GUI and non-GUI systems, including system integration, specialized, user acceptance, stress, and performance testing.
• Develop and execute test plans, test scripts, test cases, and expected results.
• Execute functional, integration, system, regression, and non-functional testing.
• Validate system behaviour under varying conditions and validate data integrity, consistency, and accuracy.
• Identify, document, track, reproduce, and support resolution of software defects.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Conduct performance, stress, load, data migration, and transformation testing.
• Perform accessibility testing in alignment with AODA and WCAG 2.0 AA.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, project managers, testing leads, and IT leads.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Maintain test result, coverage, and quality metric documentation.
• Provide input to user manuals and release notes.
• Ensure testing processes comply with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Mandatory Qualifications
• Proven experience leading and executing manual testing and data reconciliation activities for large, complex, business-critical systems.
• Experience developing test plans, test cases, and expected test results for complex business systems.
• Experience establishing test strategies for complex systems involving data, rules, and images with a high annual rate of change.
• Experience with accessibility testing aligned to AODA/WCAG 2.0 AA and complete testing of web-based three-tier software platforms.
• Excellent working knowledge of workflow, portfolio management, custom and COTS implementation testing, IBM J-Rules Engine, Jira, Bugzilla, and HP/Micro Focus Product Suite.
• Experience executing functional, non-functional, system integration, regression, and acceptance testing.
• Experience with QA principles, structured methodologies, SDLC, automated test tools, and version control systems.
• Experience developing and managing test data strategies, including data privacy and test data environments.
• Experience developing and executing performance test scripts and analyzing bottlenecks and scalability.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, coordination, organization, communication, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Public sector experience as a vendor representative or under contract to a government ministry or agency.
• Knowledge of large business systems.
• Knowledge and experience with at least one programming language.
• Experience using information retrieval packages.
• Knowledge of testing methods in an object-oriented environment.
• Knowledge of information management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.
• Experience planning testing for both large and small systems.
• Experience coding automated test scripts to produce automated test cases.
• Experience testing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications.
