Overview
The Senior UX Designer will design effective, visually appealing, user-friendly interfaces for web, mobile, digital display, publication, media, and other creative projects. The role involves end-to-end user research, stakeholder workshops, prototyping, testing, and iterative design.
Responsibilities
- Create effective, user-friendly, visually appealing interfaces.
- Design overall product functionality to deliver a strong user experience and iterate designs based on user testing.
- Design user interfaces for digital displays, publications, media, and other creative materials.
- Apply a user-centred design approach and rapidly test and iterate designs.
- Conduct user research, interviews, and surveys.
- Translate research findings into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
- Define and lead UX projects, design workshops, and stakeholder/business-user alignment sessions.
- Manage end-to-end user research, from participant recruiting through synthesis.
- Research, conceive, sketch, prototype, and user-test digital product experiences.
- Identify design problems and develop elegant solutions.
- Make strategic design and user-experience decisions for core and new functions and features.
- Gather user feedback to configure and improve existing interfaces.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Relevant experience creating GUI designs based on user interaction and performance.
- Experience as a UX Designer, Interactive Designer, UI Designer, or similar role designing web and mobile applications.
- Ability to define and lead UX projects, design workshops, and alignment sessions with stakeholders and business users.
- Experience conducting user research, interviews, and surveys, and translating findings into sitemaps, user flows, user journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
- Ability to convey design concepts and development processes clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work with the Ontario Design System or similar design systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior OPS or public-sector experience.
- Knowledge of accessibility testing.
- Knowledge of digital service standards.
- Experience with complex design challenges involving legacy systems and nuanced stakeholder/approval relationships.
- Proficiency designing with accessibility in mind and meeting WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
Skills and Experience
- GUI design based on user interaction and performance.

- Documentation, reports, reviews, and assessments.
- Client relationship management, deadline management, and competing-priority management.
- Accessibility testing, Ontario Design System, digital service standards, and WCAG 2.1 AA.
